A lovely session well-powered with my big kit. It looked as though the wind was picking up and was going to continue picking up throughout the afternoon so I headed over to the beach with my big board, my 5.7m sail and my big 6.9m sail just in case. When I got there though there was barely any wind. It had dropped right off. I hung around for a bit but didn't even bothering rigging up. After 15 mins or so there were a few white caps showing on the water and it seemed to have increased a little so I decided to at least give it a go with my big sail. I did have my wetsuit on already so may as well at least get wet.

I rigged the sail with plenty of power and headed out. As I walked down the beach though the wind seemed to pick up again so I added a bit more outhaul before getting on the water. Once on the water I was well-powered immediately and blasting along overt eh choppy waters. Jumps were good as were gybes although if anything I was a little over-powered on them so they didn't always have as much control as I would have liked. I headed back in to apply more downhaul and outhaul which helped for a while. I was now comfortable and in complete control and having fun blasting back and forth across the cold waters. The northerly wind and sudden drop in temperatures made it feel quite chilly.

The wind continued to pick up though and towards the end of the session, tiredness and being over-powered led to some spectacular crashes - all part of the fun! I should have gone with the 5.7m all along really, but more power is good too!
